This disease results in the gradual wearing away of the joint cartilage in the knees. It is the most common type of arthritis in athletes. Its symptoms include swelling, severe pain, and decrease in the range of motion in the knees.
Knee Pain from Chondromalacia
This is the softening and deterioration of the underside of the kneecap. This may lead to frequent rubbing of the cartilages which can damage it. This condition worsens when walking down stairs or downhill and during other weight bearing activities.
Knee Pain from Iliotibial Band Syndrome
It is one of the most common type of knee injury especially among athletes. This can be caused by repetitive flexing and extending of the knee causing the distal iliotibial band to become irritated and even inflamed resulting in knee pain.
